Orwell Family Health Center is now open

Ashtabula County Medical Center’s newest Family Health Center is now open in Orwell, giving southern Ashtabula County residents even quicker access to medical services such as family medicine and lab services.
Orwell Family Health Center, 8220 State Route 45, welcomed its first patients Friday, January 3. The facility features family medicine providers. ACMC family medicine and geriatric specialist Catherine Bishop, DO, sees patients on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., while family medicine nurse practitioner Emily Brown, DNP, sees patients Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lab services are also available Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Orwell Family Health Center’s family medicine providers offer comprehensive, personal health care – from routine checkups and preventive health, to diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries. Because they are part of Ashtabula County’s largest network of providers, when a specialist is needed for a specific health illness or injury, ACMC's family medicine providers have the connections to ensure patients get the best treatment close to home.
“Prior to this facility opening, about 85% of Ashtabula County residents lived within a 15-minute drive of an ACMC office in Ashtabula, Conneaut, Geneva, or Jefferson,” said ACMC President & CEO Michael Habowski. “Thanks to the Orwell office, that number increased to about 95% of the county. As patient volume grows, additional office hours will be added.”
Improving local access to providers also means that fewer Ashtabula County residents have to leave the county for basic medical services.
Habowski said, “I have always believed that having a local option for healthcare is better for our patients and everyone in the community. You should not have to take a day or half-day off work for travel to a doctor’s office when we can provide that within a few minutes of home or work.”
He added that patients want easier access to primary care providers, but they also want someone who is an advocate for their well-being. “I can’t think of two better advocates for patients,” Habowski said of Dr. Bishop and Ms. Brown.
