The Radiology department at the Ashtabula County Medical Center offers the most comprehensive service in the county. The department provides service 24 hours a day, performed by registered, state of Ohio licensed technologists under the direction of board certified radiologists from the Cleveland Clinic. All procedures are performed per order of a physician.
Upon completion of the exam, the report is interpreted and reported, by the radiologist, through a voice recognition system, which eliminates delays caused by transcription.
Inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients of all age groups, are served. Patient care and management is accomplished, in collaboration with medical staff, nursing and other healthcare disciplines, within and outside of the hospital.

Mammography is the gold standard test for diagnosing breast cancer. The ACMC Mammography Program is accredited by the American College of Radiology. We offer expert care by board certified radiologists and certified mammography technologists.
ACMC is proud to offer digital mammography technology. The benefits of digital mammography include:
* Ability to adjust the contrast and brightness to improve image quality
* Ability to see the image immediately - no film to be developed
* Optimal compression of the breast for the best results
* Reduced exposure to radiation during the exam
* Computer Assisted Diagnosis alerts physicians to specific area of the image
* Ability to view multiple images on the screen for comparison
If further testing is needed, stereotactic breast biopsy is now available at ACMC. Stereotactic biopsy uses a small needle and numbing of that area of the breast, rather than by making an incision in the breast in the operating room while the patient is under general anesthesia.?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
ACMC is proud to offer MRI services accredited by the American College of Radiology, to patients. This latest innovation in diagnostic imaging produces extremely clear images of internal organs and tissues. The MRI system can examine the designated area from any direction or plane, with our high field strength magnet. MRI’s do not expose patients to radiation. They are conducted Monday through Friday until 11 p.m.
The Nuclear Medicine department at ACMC offers a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures. Trained, certified and experienced nuclear medicine technologists aid in preparing you for a pleasant imaging experience. Using very small amounts of radiopharmaceuticals that are injected into the veins, images are created using an extremely sensitive radiation detector called a "gamma camera". Our Nuclear Medicine department has some of the most state of the art imaging cameras available, including 2 Siemens Dual Head E-Cams.
Sonographers are registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. (ARDMS). Ultrasound exams of the abdomen, pelvis, breast, prostate and testicles, as well as pregnancy.
Ultrasound can also be used to guide biopsies of the breast, prostate, and other structures. ACMC is equipped with two Siemens Elegra ultrasound units. Ultrasounds are performed until 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A diagnostic imaging of the heart performed in CAT scan. This test helps determine if fatty or calcium deposits have built up in the coronary arteries.
